Explore the fascinating saddle shoulder construction and discover the possibilities of marled colourwork!
This workshop is built around the Grafiet sweater, Maaike’s contribution to Laine Magazine 22. Grafiet is a seamless set-in-sleeve sweater design using the saddle shoulder technique and a new marled colourwork technique.
During this workshop we will explore the fascinating saddle shoulder construction and gain more insight into this technique by knitting a Grafiet mini saddle set-up construction together.
A saddle shoulder sweater is really interesting and fun to make. You start with 2 rectangular pieces – the saddle shoulders- and you build your whole sweater from there! You can see the construction as a building game, your complete sweater will emerge from two rectangles! The saddle shoulder construction has a really nice, shaped fit, that suits many body types very well.
Maaike will also explain the marled colourwork technique and we will use this marled technique in the mini saddle version.
Furthermore, Maaike will bring a lot of swatches and both the sweater and vest Grafiet samples, so you can study them and try on!
Once you learned how to make a saddle shoulder construction in this workshop you can apply the technique to other designs or even make your own design with this technique!
